About the Artist:

Do you believe in magic? When your eye is presented with an image of profound beauty, simplicity, color, form or design, the photographer has hopefully created a sense of magic – a sense of wonder – about the object or the scene in the image. What is it about that image that makes it magical? It’s a combination of things that grab the viewer’s eye or stirs an emotion, but it always involves a uniquely effective use of light to create that sense of amazement and wonder – that “wow” factor.

This is something I strive to communicate in my photography, a sense of amazement and wonder brought about by a new or unique perspective on the object of that photograph, no matter how common a subject. My goal is to present every day imagery in what I hope is an uncommon way that creates a sense of wonder, if you can catch it in just the right light and composition.

We are bombarded daily with absolutely amazing imagery – and yes, even through commercials. Yet those photographs, whether fine art or advertisements, create an appetite in the viewer for a specific emotion or product. Regardless of photographic genre - and in most cases it’s probably something we had not necessarily sought or had even thought about - but if presented effectively, we’re drawn in. And for me as a photographer, that’s the magic.
